Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"This seafood restaurant will always hold a special place in my heart for the following reasons: 1. We ordered salted egg squid and butter prawn (cream) in small portions, but they were so generous that they were perfect for three people. 2. The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. I still think about it after two months! I’ll definitely be going back to Pangkor for this restaurant. 3. We came during lunch time, which is rare for seafood restaurants as they usually only open in the evenings. So, it was a plus point that they were open for lunch. 4. Three of our servers were incredibly adorable (if you know, you know)"
"Nice local Chinese restaurant serving great chu char dishes. The portion is generous for its price and the food tastes awesome. Highly recommended if you're in this area, craving for chu char. All the fried vegetables are topped with crispy anchovies."
"We went for an early dinner around 6pm and the place was empty. We had initially planned to dine at another nearby restaurant, but it was closed, so we ended up here instead. The premises look a bit run down and the service was rather nonchalant. There were no smiles or greetings, and it feels like a long-running family business that has been operating for generations. The vibe is very much “if you want to eat, just eat, and do not ask too many questions.” Do not expect warm or attentive service. Even when we spoke in Chinese, the replies felt reluctant. Communication in English with the older staff, who seem like the grandparents of the family, might also be challenging. The menu prices are not fixed and appear to be seasonal, as they were handwritten. We ordered four small dishes including prawns, squid, fish, and vegetables. When we asked about the size of the fish, the owner was decent enough to tell us the weight. Grouper and snapper were priced at RM88 per kg (Mar 2026). Our total bill for four dishes, one rice, and two drinks came up to about RM150, which we felt was quite reasonable. The small portions were actually of good size. The food tasted good overall, the steamed fish was fresh, and nothing was overly salty. The prawns, however, had a slight chemical taste. Overall, it is a good value spot for a seafood meal in Pangkor, as long as you manage your expectations when it comes to service."
"The food is to die for!! Super delicious and fresh. We had our order within 15 minutes and the drinks in about 5 minutes - on a saturday evening (where there are lots of malayan tourists on the island). The plates are full!! You won't leave hungry! Please ask if there's a side to your meal. Normally there is no rice or anything, so order it separately - that's what we did. We asked for a Spicy sauce and the waiter gave us two, so we can try what's best for us"
"食物很好. If u don't like too 鹹。。。 Ask for not too 鹹。 Many fan install in every way, Feel cool too even if it under the hot sun."
"We ordered 醉啦啦 (it’s actually clam cooked in herbal soup) and it was soooo goood! Salted egg fried sotong is equally delicious too! Both these with 2 plates of rice, costs RM60."
"Food here is delicious! It looks rather unassuming but don’t let it fool you, get a table early and order from the menu. Word of advice, their “small” portions are actually quite big already. We loved the teochew steamed fish, fried squid & sweet and sour pork. This place accepts cash only so be prepared."
"Great, great seafood restaurant. Went there for dinner and had Kham Heong Clams, Wine Prawn, salted egg yolk squid, two rice and two iced Chinese tea and paid 89 RM (July 2023). A special recommendation: You MUST try the salted egg yolk dish. They serve this for shrimp, squid and manti - and it was absolutely awesome. It was the first time we’ve ever tried this - and it was a great experience. The owner is very nice and well speaking English. The food was served quite fast - however, there weren’t many guests around. So all in all, definitely recommended, as price/value wise a very good choice."
